It's time for a new blog, not much for writing, perhaps a few words accompanying a song I plan and will try to post everyday.

Day 54: Metamorphosis 2

Philip Glass

This was my morning song today. It had been a while I hadn't listened to Glass. While I was searching for a clip, I also found an adaptation for harp by Floraleda Sacchi which is beautiful.

Day 53: By the Cathedral

Keren Ann

Someday
You will believe that I've seen thunder
By the cathedral
Under the maple
It's was in April
You wore a raincoat

Day 52: Funny Hat

Stephen Fretwell

My favorite song from him, which I fretted out after half an hour on grooveshark.

"Now I wouldn't want to chance anything,
It's far too early in the morning,
I should probably eat and you should probably drink"

Day 51: One Day after Another

Lou Doillon

And you lose your cool as you lose your pride,
Cause your days, yeah, they're getting shorter

Thursday 25 April 2013

Day 50: Cowboys

Portishead

I don't need to say anything about this band. It's a killer

Tuesday 23 April 2013

Day 48: First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

Marie Fisker & Kira Skov

This is one breath-taking emotional performance.

"first time ever I lay with you
felt your heart so close to mine"

Sunday 21 April 2013

Day 47: Un Bel Di

Angela Gheorghiu

Puccini's operas are my favorites and this aria is a memorable one.

Saturday 20 April 2013

Day 46: Lonely Hands

Angus & Julia Stone

The best brother & sister collaboration I know.

"Do you believe that there's treasures in the ocean?"

Thursday 18 April 2013

Day 45: As long as you follow

Fleetwood Mac

When Christine sings
"I've been searching for a pot of gold"
I read it "heart of gold", it's just me.

"Now I know I can't lose
As long as you follow
I'm gonna win (I'm gonna win)
I'm gonna beg, steal, or borrow
Yes I can live today
If you give me tomorrow
As long as you follow"

Day 42 :Boy Cried Wolf

Patti Smith

Oh Patti, that cry that comes out from your throat, that anger... shakes my heart.

"Torn reborn the cries of our dismay
Are nothing to the wind but who's to mind
Kings are lifted up and kings are thrown
Lost received retrieved
The human tide"

Saturday 13 April 2013

Day 41 :Baby Blue

Emiliana Torrini

Between the pleasure and the pain
Wishing your life away
No more sinister than sane
Briefing your life away

Friday 12 April 2013

Day 40: The Beggar and the Thief

Piers Faccini

"Come with me" the thief replied
"I'll show you a land that's free
Where no door has ever closed
Onto the likes of you and me
For just as you cannot steal the sun
You cannot steal all that I've seen"

Thursday 11 April 2013

Day 39: Country Mile

Camera Obscura

I want to stop saying this band is awesome, that singer is brilliant, but I can't.

...
Once again I'll be the foolish one
Thinking a blink of these lashes would make you come
Don't you worry, don't get in a state
I don't believe in true love anyway
Who's being pessimistic now

Wednesday 10 April 2013

Day 38: Glass in the Park

Alex Turner

When you say that you need me tonight
I can't keep my feelings in disguise
The white part of my eyeballs illuminate

Tuesday 9 April 2013

Day 37: To Be with Others

Chinawoman

No she doesn't sing in Chinese! When my friend discovered her, I listened incessantly to her songs especially this one. This video may not be the best for this beautiful song, so I suggest you listen to it HERE first.

I have seen the result of discipline
makes a beast what would just been a whim
always have been one to endorse openness
now I fear some things best not discussed

Monday 8 April 2013

Day 36: Look

Sébastien Tellier

In my hands, see darling the moon and the sand
You're on my way...
Just let me play...
Just let me play...

Sunday 7 April 2013

Day 35: Elgar Cello Concerto in E Minor

Jacqueline du Pré

In my opinion du Pré's performances of Elgar's and Dvořák's cello concertos are peerless, although I love Yo Yo Ma's performance too. I don't know maybe I'm a bit opinionated but who cares. Just listen and watch this clip where she played and Daniel Barenboim, her husband conducted.

Day 34: Between the Bars (2)

Elliott Smith

Yes, he was the writer of yesterday's song. Such a heartfelt song. Someone told me he stabbed his chest. What a suicide! He must have been really damn hurt.

...
Drink up with me now
And forget all about the pressure of days
Do what I say and I'll make you okay
And drive them away
The images stuck in your head

Friday 5 April 2013

Day 33: Between the Bars

Patrick Watson & Lhasa

This performance takes my breath away, especially that it's not long before Lhasa's death in 2010. Both of these artists are from Montreal (well, Lhasa moved to Montreal in 1991) and I can now say, my city. I will post the original version by Elliott Smith tomorrow.

Drink up, baby, stay up all night
With the things you could do, you won't but you might
The potential you'll see that you'll never be
The promises you'll only make

Thursday 4 April 2013

Day 32: Fascination

Hindi Zahra

One of these days you know
You'll cry for me for sure
For those little eyes you have seen so many times,
I swear .. you will cry

Wednesday 3 April 2013

Day 31: Libertango

Astor Piazzolla

These days, I listen to music with no words much more since I'm writing and don't wanna get distracted much.
This is one of my favorite performances of Libertango, of course cuz Yo Yo Ma is playing cello!

Tuesday 2 April 2013

Day 30: Dance with Me

Nouvelle Vague

Let's dance little stranger
Show me secret sins
Love can be like bondage
Seduce me once again

Monday 1 April 2013

Day 29: Casta Diva

Maria Callas

Apart from Rock and Jazz, I'm also a big fan of opera and when it comes to soprano, Maria Callas stands among my top 3 favorite singers. This aria is from Bellini's Norma.
